You’ll inject Wegovy once a week using a simple, prefilled pen. The injection is subcutaneous, meaning it goes just under the skin—typically in your stomach, thigh, or upper arm. We’ll show you exactly how to do it during your visit. It only takes a few seconds.

Potential Side Effects:

The most common side effects of Wegovy may include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, headache, fatigue, upset stomach, dizziness, feeling bloated, belching, low blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes, gas, stomach flu, heartburn, runny nose or sore throat. Serious side effects may include possible thyroid tumors, including cancer. Do not use Wegovy if you or any of your family have ever had a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), or if you have an endocrine system condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). How Much Weight Can You Lose With Wegovy?

Clinical studies have shown that adults taking Wegovy, along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, achieved an average weight loss of approximately 15% of their initial body weight over 68 weeks.* While individual results may vary, many patients begin to see noticeable weight loss within the first few weeks of treatment.

Wegovy FAQs

How long do I need to take Wegovy?

Wegovy is intended for long-term use as part of a sustainable weight management plan. Many patients continue treatment for as long as they benefit from it, with regular check-ins to assess progress and make adjustments.

What are the common side effects?

Some people experience mild side effects when starting Wegovy, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, or stomach discomfort. These tend to improve as your body adjusts. Starting with a low dose and gradually increasing it may help minimize these effects.

Is Wegovy the same as Ozempic®?

Wegovy and Ozempic contain the same active ingredient, but they are FDA-approved for different purposes. Wegovy is specifically approved for weight loss, while Ozempic is primarily used to manage conditions in adults with type 2 diabetes. The dosing and treatment plans differ.

What happens if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose and your next dose is more than 2 days away (48 hours), you can take the missed dose as soon as possible. If you miss a dose and the next scheduled dose is less than 2 days away (48 hours), do not administer the dose. Take your next one on your regularly scheduled day. We’ll walk you through how to manage this during your visit.
