What to expect
When you arrive for your IPL photofacial in Fort Worth, you will be escorted to a treatment room and provided with eye protection to protect your eyes from the pulsed light when the device is in use.
Your provider will clean the treatment area using a mild soap. If you are concerned about your comfort during the treatment, your provider can apply a topical numbing cream, although this is not normally needed.
Next, your provider will apply a cool gel to the area being treated and gently press the pulsed light device against your skin. The part coming into contact with your skin is made from glass and contains the light source.
It is normal to experience a minor stinging sensation as the pulsed light reaches your skin, not unlike the feeling of a small rubber band snapping against your skin. You may notice some minor swelling and redness shortly after the light pulses come into contact with your skin.
Each light pulse lasts only a tiny fraction of a second, but this will be enough to eventually cover the entire treatment area. Your treatment should last anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes. After your IPL photofacial in Fort Worth is complete, your provider will wipe off the gel and gently wash the treatment area using a warm cloth. They may also apply a moisturizer and sunscreen, as your skin will be somewhat tender at first.
