During the treatment, your specialist will check in with you to make sure you’re comfortable.
As the peel begins to dry, you may experience a burning or tingling sensation. This simply means the acidic chemicals in the peel are doing their job and that the collagen process has been triggered. If your chemical peel involves peeling during recovery, we will tell you this during your consultation. Peeling usually occurs 3 to 5 days post-treatment, and when it begins, you should be sure to keep applying sunscreen every few hours to prevent any hyperpigmentation. During recovery, you should also avoid saunas, baths, hot showers, and hot tubs for about 14 days.
It’s wise to stay out of the sun for one week post-treatment, and when you do go out, wear a strong SPF. The general rule after a chemical peel is to be very mindful and careful in the sun. Your skin will be more vulnerable to the sun’s UV rays after treatment.
